Wrestling Event Poster from June 16, 1982 at the West Warwick Civic Center.
In June 1982, fans of choreographed mayhem were treated to this multi-card spoof. The venue was the West Warwick [Rhode Island] Civic Center and the combatants included Chief Jay Strongbow (actually, Joe Scarpa - a Brooklyn-born Italian) with his brother ("Jules") against the menacing Mr. Fuji and Mr. Saito - a tag-team escapade. Also appearing that evening were Pedro Morales (billed as the "champion") against ["Adorable"] Adrian Adonis (cited as the "challenger", of course). The latter, nee Keith Franke, isn't pictured in this offered broadside, but he had an interesting pedigree. It seems that Adonis was once a regular tag-team partner of [Governor] Jesse Ventura. But Franke holds another, and likely unique, distinction...In 1988, while motoring in Newfoundland, he perished in an accident when his vehicle collided with a moose
This outstanding cardboard poster. Measuring a robust 17" x 26", this announcement provides would-be patrons with views of Strongbow and Morales, along with all the printed particulars. The piece is about Excellent in consideration of minor/moderate corner damage; but much to its credit, there are no creases or blemishes to report.
